We return a letter of a vicar of the Lazio, published in the magazine "pastoral life,"
(October 2001) pages 64-65. The quotes dawned by this priest of mental manipulation is in writing more big and fat. The translation is of Dennis DUMAS. For the original in Italian: http://www.geocities.com/alterinfo/VPOtt01.htm
I REMAINED DISAPPOINTED OF THE NÉOCATÉCHUMÈNES
Having been contacted by the catechists of a parish of Rome and in spite of the fact that the bishop of this time advised against it to me, I remained struck of the enthusiasm of the néocatéchumènes, therefore I gave life to this experience in my parish.
Unfortunately I made the mistake to encourage the collaborators of the parish to participate at the path. The engagement of the path several different times the week stopped these last from continuing to grow inside the parochial community. Not to be too long, there are two aspects in the movement that let me perplexed.
The doctrinal and ecclesiastic ambiguousness. To a couple who had problems and that had confided me the serious doubt that their marriage was not valid, it was advised against to go at the ecclesiastical court because according to the catechists néocatéchumènes the church makes a mistake to permit to recognize that a marriage can be invalid. Another time one of their minister of the eucharistie, the ostiaire, has been seen throwing the crumbs of the unleavened bread dedicated because according to it it is not anymore Christ's body. Who moves away of the path, is often considered the prey of the demon. I find absolutely anti-ecclesiastic that they have parallel celebrations as those of Saturday evening and the holy week, including the vigil reserved to the members of the path.
But what I believe to be the most serious and troubling that is the methodology that has the tendency to form a group closed with moments, of the asked passages, in which there is a manipulation of the thought that achieves itself in a sly manner on people who often have also serious problems in my opinion and that become under the catechist's authority. In the first vote one insists on the necessity on detaching itself/themselves of the tangible assets and one must say before all his/her/its own crosses, as often one declares his/her/its own sins, this being one prelude to the second vote where he/it is asked to give the tithe of that that one wins. There is in the path a lugubrious spirituality, pessimist, who reaches a true psychological terrorism in some cases.
To a small old of 90 years of my parish he/it was told that if she/it abandoned the path that was because Satan tempted it! Often the catechists affirm that the conversion arrives when we understand that we are disgusting! The difficulties only mentioned here (because I should have written a lot more) can meet also on the two sites that I see since some years on Internet. The church should make. uvre serious of discernment without letting itself/themselves dazzle by the organized oceanic assemblies by in the Kiko. Some delays can be harmful. The Milingo case teaches...
