Neo-Catechumenals teachings:
Barabbas' Parabola

The following teaching was in succession sensible two years, to the catechèses initials of the Neo-Catechumenal path, has been presented by the couple of catechists N-C, the first year by the woman and the following year by the husband. The person whom there helped was livid about such harmful teachings and, because no questions have been permitted during the session. The session of the following year is characterized by the same learned in the same way beliefs, as indicated in this report took the investigator's notes.

We are called by Jesus Christ and God to the Christian life style, to the cross. It is not the path of the white horse and the sword. No. On this path, the Christian path, we carry the sins of the other.

During the time of the Roman occupation, the Jews have been treated very badly by the Romans. The Romans treated the Jews unjustly. Barabbas and Jesus were against the injustices that the Jews endured, but their paths were very different. Barabbas was brigand and the fighter of the liberty. He/it knew the infringements of the Romans on the rights of people. He/it killed the Roman soldier in the fight. It is like that that he/it dealt with the injustice. How did Jesus take care of the injustice? Like that you are? Do you choose to be like Jesus or as Barabbas? Jesus? Would you choose to be like Jesus? Wait...

Let's say that a woman suffers. His/her/its husband spends all his/her/its money and his/her/its time with the drugs and the drink. When he/it is home, he/it beats it. He/it doesn't take care of his/its children. He/it is neglectful about his/her/its family. How does the woman answer? She/it is treated very badly. Does she/it answer in struggle? No. She/it answers in silence. When does he/it look for the affection in bed, does she/it turn him the back to wound it some? Does she/it divert herself/itself from him to give him a lesson and to wound it in return? Does she/it provoke it in a subtle way? --- either--- does she/it choose JESUS? If she/it had acted on the injustice That she/it had received, she/it would be just as Barabbas. None... she/it chooses Jesus therefore... she/it carries her/its husband's sin. Can we think, "How can I make to him pay? " None of us can make it otherwise that through our Lord Jesus Christ. With The Christ, it is an entirely different ball game. There is the universal love behind him. It is different from all the love that we know.

If we can win against the injustice, as Barabbas tried to make it, by our own actions, then us don't have need of the Christ. We can make Barabbas' love if we can pull things of ourselves. All is accomplished in the cross. We cannot carry the sin of someone... it is the Good News. We recognize that we are capable to turn us toward God.

Hearing this message the following year, and knowing that no question is admitted during the sessions, the investigator interrupted and let escape:

Do you say whereas the Christ wants that this woman accepts his/her/its husband's behavior? "

The catechist seized the big standing crucifix by the side, shook it to accentuate and said high and strong: "OF COURSE SHE/IT MUST. Of course she/it must."
